Biontech ionizers
BionTech Water Ionisers FAQ’s
Is it possible for the Biontech water ionizer to use water from sources other than tap water?
Yes, it is. Depending on the water used, a pre-filter may be required and/or sea salt added to mineralize the water. Also, the specified pH level might not be available due to different characteristics of water. Hence, users are encouraged to ensure, before an installation takes place, that the pH level is set to the desired level for drinking.
Isn’t the Biontech water ionizer a general water filter?
The ionizer provides not only filtered water but also uses electricity to induce water into alkali ion-water and acidic ion-water. Biontech water ionizers are medical appliance products which have been approved by the KFDA.
When do filters have to be replaced?
It is very easy to know when to replace the filters as a numerical value is constantly displayed indicating the amount of usage of the filter. This is calculated by the integrated flux sensor. When the filters need to be replaced, the numerical value displayed flickers and voice supported messages are given. Normally, the 1st filter lasts for 3 to 4 months and the 2nd filter lasts for 5 to 6 months.
I have tank water with a low mineral content, can I ionize this water?
For the ionization process to work efficiently, there needs to be a moderate level of minerals in the water supply. In order to mineralise your water supply, you will need to add the minerals to your tank in a quantity of 1 tablespoon per 1000 litres. It is best to use a high quality sea salt such as Celtic or Himalayan sea salt, available from health food stores. We also have a model - the BTM 3000 - that is a reservoir type, rather than continuous flow, so minerals can be added directly into this ioniser. For all of the continuous flow models, the filters have a a compartment for you to place coral calcium inserts in. This is another great way to add these beneficial minerals to your alkaline ionized water.
Is the quality of water ionizer BTM 3000 - BTM 800 - BTM 200N dramatically different? I would like to buy a good quality ionizer and I like the price of the BTM 3000. BTM 800 and BTM 200N are significantly more expensive, but are they that much better?
All of these ionizers create equally good quality water. The BTM-200N and BTM-800 are more expensive because they attach to the tap and provide a continuous flow of ionized water. They also automatically adjust the pH, have an automated self-clean function and also have an inbuilt filter (the 200N has one filter and the 800 has two filters). In comparison, the BTM-3000 is a benchtop ionizer that is not connected to a tap – you fill the 2 x 2 litre reservoirs with filtered water (this model comes with a free Aquasana water filter) and the electrolysis process creates alkaline water in one compartment and acid water in the other. This process takes 5-10 minutes. The BTM-200N and BTM-800 simply have the convenience of providing ionized water whenever you turn on the tap, whilst the 3000 needs to be manually filled with water, so it can be used anywhere there is a power supply.
The Biontech water ionizer does not clean after each use, what is the reason?
Biontech ion-water cleans automatically to maintain and guarantee the efficiency of the electrolytic cell. When t he total volume of both alkaline ion-water and acidic ion-water in its tank reaches 10L, the automatic clean process takes place.
Is it safe to drink after the cleaning process?
Approximately 0.8L water is removed after the cleaning process - this is indicated by the drain light flickering. Do not drink the drained water. Once the cleaning process is complete and the water has drained, you can continue using your ionizer as usual.
Water is leaking from the bottom of the Biontech water ionizer, why does it happen?
There is a possibility that dew condensation might happen inside the body of the ionizer due to humidity and hot weather. If it is not a temporary event and it leaks substantially, you are advised to contact the after-sales service.
I get Er displayed on my water ionizer, what does it mean?
Er1 - low voltage
Input voltage is lower than the average voltage by 10% or more
Er2 - high voltage
Input voltage is higher than the average voltage by 10% or more
Er3 - electrolytic cell overheated
The electrolytic cell has overheated
Er7 - cleaning process failure
Water flow valve has been opened while the cleaning process is in progress
Er OF - excessive flux
Influx is more than 3L/min
EF (model BTM-105U) – excessive water flow
Reduce the flow rate from the tap (a pressure regulator can be attached to the hose to adjust the flow rate automatically)
The power turned off when I was using alkali or acidic modes.
The machine cut the power to protect itself responding to various characteristics of regional water, especially to subterranean water.
I have replaced the filter but the indicator gauge does not show a [000] value.
Press the reset button located inside the filter cover.
The voice repeatedly says it is cleaning the unit.
The automatic self-cleaning function is in progress. Don’t allow water flow during this process. Please turn off the tap water valve during this message.
What should I do when I the machine is not going to be used for quite some time?
Unplug the machine and remove the filter. Wrap the filter with vinyl resin and store in the freezer.
When I store alkaline ion-water in a bottle, it goes cloudy and deposits form. Why is this?
This is because the alkaline ion-water is rich in calcium minerals. If there is a lot of CO 3 available in the water, it combines with calcium to form CaCO 3 (calcium carbonate). This implies that the reducing (alkalizing) process has occurred. There is nothing wrong with drinking the contents; however you are advised to wash the container. You may want to purchase citric acid from a pharmacy and dissolve it in 1L of water to clean the container.
*The formation of CaCO 3 deposits occurs when water is rich in minerals or CO 3 so a stronger reducing process takes place. In such cases, the pH must be adjusted to the right level for that particular water.
I have a new reverse osmosis unit and would like to know what minerals can be added to the RO Water to allow the pure water to be electrolysed in the Digital BTM-3000 unit.
Use a high quality pure sea salt such as Celtic or Himalayan sea salt.
Tell me more about the new Digital BTM 3000 with flexible electrodes.
A design improvement was recently introduced because with the older model, the electrodes were brittle and prone to breaking. The unit now has unbreakable electrodes and digital beefed-up circuitry which now provides a much stronger solution through more intense electrolysis and improved ability to handle higher TDS. The electrodes in the BTM-3000 are platinum-coated titanium and sealed with screws .
What is the structure and function of the 6 stage Biontech filter?
Stage |

Whether you take a right path, and how much you are successful are all important in living one’s life. But I believe what matters more than those is what you do with what kind of values. I become to know alkaline water ionizer and began to preach health-enhancing quality of ion water from 1983 in Korea, which was back then an uncharted land for ion water. Looking back all those years of my consistent efforts to build what is now an established water ionizer provider, Biontech, now seems to be a saga.
Based on scientific theories and the results of clinical tests conducted on myself and our customers, I judged that using alkaline water is one of the safest health-boosting methods that could be easily adopted and widely used. Throughout my years as a young man, I have led the alkaline water ionizer industry, while providing people of different races, gender and ages with chances to live a healthy life. Now watching water ionizers spreading across the world and widely used in people’s daily lives gives me happiness and sense of fulfillment.
Biontech is currently producing the largest number of water ionizers in the world. Building on its technological prowess, the company has earned international brand power and secured world-class production facilities. In preparation for an explosive demand growth for water ionizer, Biontech is now making investments to build by 2006 a factory that could manufacture one million units of water ionizer a year as well as a world-class research center. Drawing upon its advanced technologies and competitiveness of its products without being complacent, Biontech will offer more advanced, customer-oriented items, thereby contributing to enhancing the health of humanity through health-boosting qualities of ion water.
